An orgasm a day keeps the fascism away!
A Brief Exploration of Sex, Fascism, and Motherhood
What do sex, motherhood, and fascism have in common? More than you might think. Throughout history, authoritarian regimes have sought to control bodies, particularly women's bodies, as a means of maintaining power. From suppressing sexual autonomy to weaponizing motherhood, these systems thrive on fear, shame, and control. But what if reclaiming pleasure—owning our sexuality as mothers—was a radical act of resistance?
What Is Fascis^?
Fascism is an extreme authoritarian political system that thrives on hierarchy, suppression, and control. It loves:
Extreme nationalism
Militarism
Obedience
Fear and strict social rules
Controlling bodies and reproductive rights
Banning books and silencing dissent
Weaponizing traditional gender norms
Shaming and punishing pleasure
Fascism is about control—especially when it comes to sexuality. Why? Because controlling sex means controlling people.
The Relatio~ship Betwee~ Fascis^ & Sex
Fascist and ultra-conservative systems hate sexual freedom. Historically, these systems have controlled sexuality by:
Dictating who people can love (banning same-sex relationships, enforcing rigid gender roles).
Controlling reproductive rights (banning abortion and contraception).
Pushing purity culture (anti-masturbation, vilifying sex for pleasure, reducing sex to reproduction only).
At the core of it all? Shame. A society that is taught to be ashamed of its desires is easier to manipulate and control.
Motherhood & Fascism: A Co~venient Tool
Motherhood is both celebrated and weaponized under fascism. When having babies is framed as a duty to "serve the nation," women are pushed into traditional family roles, creating dependence and reducing personal freedom. The result? Exhausted, controlled mothers with limited ability to fight back.
Under fascist ideology:
Mothers are expected to sacrifice personal autonomy.
Reproductive rights are restricted.
Sexuality is policed—mothers are seen as only reproductive beings, not sexual ones.
The “good mother” is one who sacrifices; the “bad mother” seeks independence.
The ultimate goal? To keep women too busy, exhausted, and dependent to challenge oppressive systems.
Wilhel^ Reich: The OG Who Co~~ected Sex & Fascis^
Wilhelm Reich was a psychoanalyst who argued that sexual repression leads to authoritarianism. He believed that:
Fear of pleasure makes people more obedient.
Controlling women’s bodies = controlling society.
Repressed people seek strict leaders.
Fascism is about controlling minds, not just laws—it normalizes oppression.
Motherhood is used as a tool to suppress women’s sexual agency.
His work was so radical that the U.S. government banned and burned his books. He died in prison before his research was republished.
Mothers Are U~iquely Positio~ed to Fight Fascis^
Mothers have a unique power in resisting fascist systems. How?
Reclaim your pleasure—a mother who owns her sexuality is a threat to systems that thrive on control.
Raise sex-positive kids—teaching children autonomy, consent, and shame-free sexuality breaks cycles of repression.
Disrupt purity culture—reject the idea that sex is something to fear, hide, or control.
Challenge authoritarian ideals—fascism feeds on shame, fear, and control, but we can disrupt it with empowerment, education, and pleasure.
There are 2.2 billion mothers worldwide (85 million in the U.S.). Imagine the collective power if most of us committed to these radical acts of resistance.
An orgasm a day may not literally keep the fascism away—but pleasure, autonomy, and liberation? Now that is revolutionary.
